Robert "Duke" Bradley was one of the original founders of CCTV and the Executive Director for over 30 years. These were his reflections years ago that we hope will stay true to CCTV for many years to come.
A Reflection on 25 Years.
25 Years! I have been fortunate to have many celebratory milestones in my lifetime; wedding anniversaries, children and grandchildren's birthdays and now, the celebration of 25 years at Chelsea Cable Television.
It has been quite a ride since establishing the station back in 1988. As a lifelong resident of Chelsea, I have seen many changes through the years, both physically and culturally. As when I was younger, Chelsea continues to be a city with open arms, welcoming all who wish to reside in a small community close to the vibrant capital city of Massachusetts. I believe that CCTV embodies that same philosophy.
CCTV has taken the ride along with the many changes. Our programming is stacked with diverse, multi-cultural programming as well as coverage of all that happens in the City Hall and the organizations that are now the foundation of our success.
And speaking of success, there aren't many local cable stations that have continued to support a community on such a small budget. You will always recognize a face behind the camera at all the local events and there is rarely an opportunity for coverage that we refuse. My staff works hard to accomodate all requests and we stack a weekly programming schedule that is both well rounded and entertaining. We have been fortunate to be recognized by many civic and municipal organizations at both the city and state levels. But often it is the crayoned thank you letter from the elementary school thanking us for filming their 4th grade author's event that resonates and reaffirms the work we do.
To coin a phrase, "Chelsea Pride" is alive and well in the studio at 317 Chestnut Street. I am proud of our community, I am proud of my dedicated staff and I am proud to say that I have enjoyed 25 years at CCTV. We will continue to bloom as we approach 50!
